Thank you for bearing with me during our move! We are starting to feel settled here in Des Moines and learning our way around. Other than my mishap of turning the wrong way on a one-way on my first drive to work, things have been going fairly smoothly.

I haven't posted about my new job yet so I figured it's a good time to do that! I'm working at a great publishing company called August Home Publishing. They specialize in magazines and special interest books about four subjects: woodworking, home improvement, gardening, and cooking. They are also venturing into television production.

I'm working for their cooking publication, Cuisine at Home, as an Associate Health Editor. This magazine stands out among food and cooking publications because it offers very detailed recipe instructions and instructional photographs with every recipe. I'm joining a VERY talented group of chefs, editors, designers, food stylists, and photographers -- all of whom are very passionate about food! We test and taste recipes almost every day, and all the recipes are originals developed right in our test kitchens.

The magazine has never had a Health Editor before - it's a new position, and it's the role I was born to play, baby! I'll be figuring the nutritional information for every recipe and writing the Cuisine Lite and Wise Bites departments that will appear in every issue. I'll  also do some editing, some recipe development, and lots of tasting. I'm only one week in, but I absolutely LOVE IT!

It was very hard for Chris and me to leave Waterloo/Cedar Falls. It was also difficult to say a series of good-byes to lots of cherished friends. We already miss you guys A LOT! Please come visit us whenever you're in the Des Moines area. Our boxes are almost unpacked and we're ready to entertain!
