Farmers Market Hat

Laura wearing her Farmers Market Hat on a camping trip
Last year, my sister and I each bought a corduroy baseball-type hat. We are not usually hat girls (and Laura pulls it off better than I do), but we justified our purchases by listing all the times it would be appropriate to wear a hat like this. Waking up on a Saturday morning and going to the Farmers Market, for example, was a perfect opportunity to sport the hat (now dubbed the Farmers Market Hat). We decided it would also be handy for tailgating mornings and camping trips, not to mention those lazy weekend days when you just don't want to do your hair.  2040917-1542965-thumbnail.jpg
Little Brown for the day

Well, when I woke up this morning my hair was doing that thing where my bangs stick straight up after being smashed on the pillow all night. Boy was I glad to have my Farmers Market Hat! And, appropriately, I wore it over to my first Farmers Market of the season. And, since it is also Kentucky Derby Day, my brown corduroy cap will have to be this year's Kentucky Derby hat. It is not grand and it's not ornate, but it will do.

Instead of being called my Farmers Market Hat, today I will call it Little Brown and I'll wear it while eating my not-low-calorie Caramel Pecan Apple Cupcake Pop (my end-of-the week reward) and cheering Big Brown onto victory!

Update: The amazing win by Big Brown was shadowed by the sudden loss of the second-place finisher, Eight Belles. She had to be euthanized on the track after breaking both front ankles shortly after the race ended. Here is a recap.
